Forwood and Whitlock - Australia's
Number One for 2005

Carol ForwoodCarol Forwood (pictured right) claimed the number one ladies darts player status in Australia for the first time at the end of 2005. This has been an outstanding performance by Forwood winning ten DFA Ranked events, including her States Singles title. Her success has not been limited to victories in her home State of New South Wales either, winning in Victoria and the ACT. She had a strong consistent year in 2005, which also saw her make the final of the Pacific Masters which included many of the players representing their country at the World Cup in Perth losing to Scotland's Anne Kirk. She received DFA Ranking Points in thirteen darts tournaments she contested in 2005, the biggest being the Central Coast Classic. Carol also finished in the top ten of the WDF Rankings and just missed out on gaining an invitation to Lakeside for the World Professional Darts Championships in the UK.

Dot McLeod was unable to retain her number one ranking title which she had won back last year. McLeod has had another outstanding year though, representing Australia at the World Cup in Perth and winning the Australian Singles and Australian Grand Masters titles. She had a big finish in 2004 by winning the Alice Springs Open and Golden Nugget in the Northern Territory to give her the number one spot, but she was unable to attend this year.

In 2005 Forwood won the ranking race from Western Australian Dot McLeod by just six points and another WA player Natalie Carter in third place. Carter also had a great year winning two titles in her home State and was also a finalist in three others. This was a big improvement on 2004, jumping up from tenth place. Tassies Helen Johnson finished of the year in fourth place down from third in 2004 with three tournament wins in Tasmania throughout the year
