A Coaching trip to Mount Isa
I thought you might find this put this good news story from Mount
Isa on the QDA web site and also forward to Points and Tips.
Thanks to a grant from Sport and Recreation, Queensland, we
were able to run a 2-day level 1 coaching course in the Isa.
The grant enabled us to have Judy Taylor, our state and national
coaching director, travel out from Rockhampton to present the
course, help us introduce the hot shots program to a local primary
school and sample a bit of outback hospitality.
We had 8 candidates undertake the training with people traveling
from Cloncurry and even Townsville (900 kilometers) to take advantage
of this opportunity. All the candidates managed to complete the
course successfully due mainly to Judy's patience (she needed
a lot of it) and her very helpful presentation style. I hope
everyone goes on to complete their accreditation, become fully
qualified coaches and help develop our local cub and junior development
programs.
Many thanks to Judy for providing an informative and entertaining
couple of days. Also the support and assistance from local Sport
and Recreation staff was excellent. We would not have had this
opportunity without that support.
