12 YEAR-OLD HITS 9-DARTER IN DENMARK OPEN

12 year-old Swedish sensation Oscar Lukusiak (pictured left) became the youngest ever darts player to hit the perfect 9-Dart 501 leg on his way to winning the Boys Youth Singles in the 2004 Denmark Open.

His achievement eclipses that of 13 year-old Dutch boy Pascal Van Mourik, who registered a 9-Dart 501 in competition play almost exactly a year ago – in August 2003.

“Outstanding standards like this at such an early age once again emphasise the strength and depth of WDF darts”, says Olly Croft, Secretary General of the World Darts Federation.

“Every darts player acknowledges that the 9-Darter is special, but for a 13 year-old to have achieved it last year, only to have it equalled by a 12 year-old this year is extra-special.

“There isn’t another system anywhere that produces exciting talent such as this, and everyone within the WDF should feel justifiably proud of this young boy’s amazing achievement.

“He epitomises the future of darts and I send him my warmest congratulations”.

Such is Oscar’s enthusiasm for darts that he also entered the Denmark Open proper and finished a very respectful 17th.

Winner of the 2004 Denmark Open Men’s Singles was Scotland’s Gary Anderson (right), who beat his compatriot and Scotland Captain Mike Veitch (left) in the final.

England’s Trina Gulliver won both the Women’s Singles and Pairs (with Clare Bywater).
