Barry
Twomlow was known worldwide for his role as "Darts Ambassador
to the World". Former News of the World Champion back in 1969,
and one of the best-known and well-liked darts personalities in
the Darts industry has passed away aged 71 on Saturday May 29th
2004.
Barry travelled the world year-round until retiring several years
ago, putting on darts exhibitions for Unicorn Darts Inc for more
than 25 years He has wandered this earth, urging, educating, pleading,
persuade and most importantly, communicating with people about
this great sport - People who were about to become dart players.
Barry's encounters have given him an immense understanding of the
game of darts. Over the years Barry had introduced darts to many
thousands of people, in virtually every part of the world. Barry
was the first Life Member of both the British Darts Organization
and the American Darts Organization (1992).
Unicorn, who pioneered darts in the USA found a messenger in Barry,
his love of the game of darts was legendary and infectious. His
travels took him to the United States over 100 times and he has
made numerous trips to other countries including Australia, Canada,
Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Philippines, Singapore,
South Africa, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland and Iceland. He had
also travelled to Bermuda, Czech Republic, Greece, Malaysia, Thailand,
Zimbabwe, Japan, Hong Kong, Manilla, Germany, Austria, France,
Hungary and Russia.
Residing in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England he was the President
of Derbyshire Darts Organization, an affiliate county of the British
Darts Organization, and a keen gardener.
Barry had retired from serious darts for several years, however,
